Marcel Lötscher

Dr. iur. Dr. phil. Marcel Lötscher, LL.M., MBA
 
is a Swiss lawyer, mediator and regulatory expert. He combines academic depth with senior executive experience in financial market supervision, corporate governance and legal consulting. He currently serves on the board of directors at LAWCONSULT LTD, a consulting firm specializing in regulatory advisory and corporate consulting, and is responsible for the investment company PRIVATINVEST LTD.

From 2012 to 2022, he served as Head of the Asset Management and Markets Division and member of the Executive Board at the Financial Market Authority (FMA) Liechtenstein. The division supervised asset management companies, funds, fund management companies and bond prospectuses while leading market-related supervisory activities. He represented the FMA in major international bodies and expert groups, including the ESMA Board of Supervisors and the European Regional Committee of IOSCO. Subsequently, he worked at FTX Europe as Head of Regulatory Strategy, the European division of the global cryptocurrency exchange FTX. Earlier in his career, he held senior executive positions at a Swiss financial group, including Chief Operating Officer and Group Legal Counsel.

He studied law at the Universities of St. Gallen (HSG) and Bern and began his professional career with a commercial banking apprenticeship at a major Swiss bank. He was admitted to the Lucerne bar and is a qualified mediator. His academic qualifications include two doctorates (one in law focusing on collective investment schemes and one in economic history on the principles of Catholic investment) as well as an LL.M. in company, foundation and trust law, an MBA in General Management Competences, and a VR-CAS HSG as a certified board director.
